iPhone ad shows off its GPS and Map functionality

June 6th, 2007 by Cormac Moylan · 5 Comments

Apple have finally released their advertising for the iPhone campaign to the world. I’m very impressed with the campaign. Information is often lacking from adverts but in all three iPhone ads Apple demonstrate the features of the phone. In the advert below they demonstrate the GPS and Map functionality of the iPhone’s search capabilities.

Google are said to be pursuing Apple into the phone market and you can see why. Local search combined with Google Maps and Adsense with GPS has massive marketing potential.

I have covered the Apple iPhone Ads in more detail on my recent Apple Mac Blog

Unless I’m completely mistaken Cormac, the iPhone doesn’t come with GPS built-in?

Hi James, I remember reading that it has a search function which determines your location and shows you local search search results. The video above presents the user with the nearest seafood resturant to him.

    Actually wait, you’re right.

The iPhone uses cell towers though.
I would have expected GPS to be a feature though.

Ah, ok, I wasn’t sure really. But I thought Scoble wrote somewhere about the advantages of the Nokia N95 over the iPhone, including higher res camera and GPS.

Still, the iPhone is going to be huge anyway!
