Last night I went to check out Iron Man the movie. I’m a bit of a Marvel comic enthusiast. I have seen many of the recent Marvel revivals. Some have been flopped, some have been outrageously brilliant.
Iron man is outrageously brilliant. It’s an epic movie. Robert Downey Jr brilliantly portrays the flawed super hero. Jeff Bridges is excellent, as he always is, as Robert Stark’s right hand man. The special effects are unbelievable as well. There are times when you see CGI stuff and it can be quite impressive but the CGI stuff on Iron Man looks so realistic. The script is solid. The dialog is as you would expect. It has the perfect blend of action, adventure and light comedy.
The only disappointing things about the movie are the lack of a decent soundtrack and Gwyneth Paltrow. A decent soundtrack can make a world of difference to an action movie. Just look at what Rage Against The Machine did for the Matrix movies and Moby for the Bourne Movies. Sadly the soundtrack is absent from Iron Man. As for Gwyneth Paltrow, bah.. What is she doing in a comic book movie? Her acting was grand but every time she appeared on the screen I expected her to break out into Jane Austin or something.
This is the official trailer..
(sounds like Pearl Jam are playing in the background)

I’m so glad this is living up to the hype. I’ve heard several rave reviews now, can’t wait to see it.
Agreed about Gwyneth Paltrow though. I was a little pissed when I saw her in the trailer.

Fortunately she only has about 10 minutes of screen time altogether.

Went to see this last week and was really impressed. Everything was just right about it, the cgi was not over done, the powers the character had were within reason and Robert Downey Jr. was excellent.
Agreed on Paltrow, Im just not a fan. I could watch the scene where he first tries to fly in the lab over and over again

The flying scenes were excellent. I loved the fire extinguisher robot guy. Cute little puppy head on him.
I want to get a wife beater tshirt with one of those glowly heart things in them. That would be cool

Iron Man was practically flawless as a super hero flick; it drops pretty obvious hints that would indicate a sequel as well… i’m thinking the next one should be equally great

Patrick, the next time you will see Tony Stark is in The Hulk 2. Robert Downey Jr is one of the cast leads in The Hulk.
Also, in the comic series Rhodes was his right hand man and we are yet to see him become a super hero.
Finally, Downey said he would play Tony Stark for the rest of his life.
So yeah, more Iron Man please
