Create a musical quilt with Last.fm widgets

May 12th, 2007 by Cormac Moylan · 4 Comments

(I had to remove the musical quilt because it was breaking my blog :( )

What you’re seeing above is a musical quilt based on my Last.fm profile. It’s pretty good eye candy, isn’t it?

Last.fm have released some widgets which allow you to embed flash candy easily onto your blog. You can setup a personal radio station, display your recently played tracks and create a custom playlist.

Expect to see widgets popping up all over MySpace and Bebo in the near future.

It’s a very nice feature and provides an excellent platform for some viral marketing. Well done last.fm.

The only issue I’m having is the massive amount of code it requires to place this feature on your blog. It’s not suitable for long term dwelling in my sidebar, that’s for sure.

    Hi,
how did you embed the widget in your post?
    If I copy/paste the last.fm code into my post I get junk…
    thanks

    Hi Alfredo,
If you are using wordpress then you need to switch to the code view. Once in code view you can paste in the code there.

it looks like part of the code that I paste is cut once I push the “publish” button

Alfredo, it looks like you are not putting all the code into the post. I looked at the source code of your post and it’s not as populated as the code I’m using.
