I’m not sure how I came to hear of Kidic but I stumbled onto their website this morning while hitting my head of my desk at work. I listened to a few of their tracks, watched their video, read their profile, looked at their photos….all in all they look like & sound like a solid bunch of guys making good music.
I browsed through my iPod trying to find a similar artist to which I could tag their style to but I couldn’t. This is of course a good thing! On their myspace page they list fellow Irish bands Ash, BellX1 and Director amongst their friends. Within the ’sounds like’ part of their profile they say…
We try not to immitate our heroes but the sounds that inspire us include: Muse, Keane, Jeff Buckley, The Mary Janes, Bell X1, Pink Fyold, Pearl Jam, Puressence, Hard-Fi, Supergrass, Rufus Wainwright, Doves, Cake, Radiohead

Below is an excerpt taken from their biog page
Kidic are not quite rock, not quite pop, and not quite emo, but their music does rock and it does emote. For Kidic, connection is paramount - too many bands hawk their songs on stage and never once acknowledge the audience.
At this time three of their tracks are available to stream from their media page on Kidic.com. Included on the list is what would seem to be their debut single, Holding Doors for Strangers (youtube link).
The track is availabe to purchase from the 18th of May. The band are making an appearance in Tower Records on the 12th to coincide with the release, performance begins at 13.30.
Below are some other places and times for Kidic in the near future:
- Sat 28/04 - Kilkenny, The Zoo Parliament St.
- Fri 04/05 - Cork, An Cruiscin Lan
- Sat 19/05 - Dublin, Whelans
- Fri 25/05 - Waterford, Electric Avenue

What’s Electric Avenue like as a venue, have you ventured in there before? I’m going to try to see them in May as well but that could be in Cork/Dublin/ or Waterford depending on work.
Hopefully they will have a bit of hype behind them for their Cork and Waterford gigs.
