I don’t know what it is with Scandinavia (Sweden in particular) but there are soo many amazing electronic acts coming out of there in the last number of years. The talent is endless:

  • Röyksopp
  • Bjork
  • The Whitest Boy Alive
  • Erlend Øye
  • The Kings of Convenience
  • The Knife
  • Alphabeat
  • José González (more so his stuff with Zero 7 rather than his acoustic music)
  • Sigur Rós
  • Plej

And now two more:

  • Kkeerup
  • Lykke Li
Keerup is the guy who produced Robyn’s Every Heartbeat hit from a few months back. His track Until We Bleed, taken from his self titled ablum, features vocals from songstress Lykke Li.

Lykee Li has recently enough released her own debut album; Youth Novel. There is a real mish mash of Feist and reggae about her in this video for I’m Good, I’m Gone.

You can add múm to that list too.

Some great stuff there. Strictly speaking I think you meant the Nordic Countries rather than Scandanavia, (think it only covers Sweden, Norway and Denmark)- Sigur Rós and Múm both coming from Iceland.

Hi Paul, just checked it out there on good old Wikipedia and Iceland is Scandinavian according to that article. Iceland is also considered a Nordic country.

What’s your problem with Iceland ;)
