It should be arriving by the end of the week. I can’t wait! I asked for some advise a while back and thanks to some very sound advise from Gary I have purchased a 20″ iMac from the Apple Refurb Store.
The Refurb Store contains returned goods which have either been on display in shops or which are simply just returned items…but at a discount! The iMac i picked up had an original price of €1,519, but I paid €1,319 (€1,090.08 ex VAT) for a Tiger OS powered 20″ iMac which has a 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1GB RAM, 250GB HD, SuperDrive and a ATIX1600-128MB Graphics Card under its bonnet. That’s a saving of 14%.
I know there is the worry of the product not been 100% up to scratch but it gets the run over by Apple Technicians three times before it is dispatched. I also have 10 working days to return the product if I’m not happy and I get a years warranty. That pretty much covers any risk in my opinion.
What will I do when i get my mac….I’ll probably just stare at it before watching some episodes of the US Office on it or something. Fantastic! ![]()

Very nice purchase Cormac! Let us know what kind of state the iMac is in when you receive it. I’d anticipate a minor scratch or two but nothing more.
All the best.

I wouldn’t mind the odd scratch or two myself either. As long as the monitor/keyword/mouse are operational, i’ll be a happy camper.
I’ll have to wipp out my shoddy camera and take some pics of it.
I’ll keep you posted Gary.

I have a few pics of it to post up. It is spotless, no scratches, no dents no nothing. It was perfectly boxed.

Hey Cormac,
Glad to hear it came in good condition, can’t wait to see the photos.
Think I’m getting myself a macbook or MBP off the refurb site soon.
Enjoy filling up that 250GB hard drive with TV shows!
