Robbie Keane: Britain’s Most Expensive Footballer

July 29th, 2008 by Cormac Moylan · 3 Comments

Robbie Keane completed his £20.3m move from Spurs to Liverpool today.

In total Robbie has played for six teams including Wolves, Coventry, Inter Milan, Leeds and Spurs. The resulting transfer fees puts him 5th on the total transfer fees list behind Anelka, Veron, Crespo and Vieri.

According to Sky Sports News that makes Keane the most expensive British footballer (just ahead of Rio Ferdinand).

When did Robbie Keane become British? I always thought that Tallaght was in Dublin (Dublin is in Ireland just in case you didn’t know or if you work for Sky and have your head stuck up your arse)

Just in case you’re thinking that Sky probably meant the 5th most expensive footballer in the world who is based in Britain and that I got it wrong; why is Vieri on the list? He never played in the SPL or the PL.

Just confirmed on his Wiki entry that is in fact Irish. Surprise, Surprise!

Ireland isn’t in Great Britain. Northern Ireland is though.
