Picked up this baby this morning in Argos out in Dundrum Shopping Centre (the most amazing shopping centre in the world I might add)

Just as I was moving up to Dublin my housemate, Ryan, got in NTL Broadband. NTL are still exporting ordinary modems with their broadband but I suppose the cost of cable routers is forcing their hand into batting for shite technology.
This is a beautiful piece of hardware! Plug your modem into the router, plug the router into the PC, Bob’s your uncle! The only problem I had was trying to read my way thru the admin panel! (Don’t select Dutch over English, they are different languages…apparently)
Currently setup on the wireless and so far so good. I’ll be setting up the firewall rules and exploring the utilities in the next few days.
I was going to pick it up from Komplett but E99 in Argos there and then slapped Komplett in the face!

I use a Linksys WAG54G, and have been for over a year now, it’s performed pretty well

it seems to be doing a good job for me techz
can’t complain. I had a Netgear Router previous to this and it was a bit touch and go with the connections the odd time.
This seems to be far more stable.

I’m using a Linksys Wireless G router as well, it was very easy to install. But I find that every now and again the router will restart by its self. But other then that I find the Linksys range of routers to be great. But I find that Netgear to be a much better router. Where I work we just installed a load balanced Netgear router. And it is working like a dream.

Hi Dave,
Netgear make solid hardware alright. I think i foobed up my NG router by using the incorrect powersupply for it for so long.
I have a few problems with my broadband but I’m 99% sure its down to NTL and not my Linksys router.

Have you ever thought of switching to Irish Broadband?? I use them and I get 2mbs up and down with a dedicated IP and no port restrictions. All for 48 a month!

That’s wirless is it? I’m looking at fiding a new place to live fairly soon so I will have to rethink my broadband..
Is IB stable? The 2meg up would be sweet as pie if you wanted to host a server of sorts..mmm, tempting.
