Moola (invites inside)

Moola

Moola is a private beta social network with a slight twist.

Their twist is an interactive games gambling application for which the winner ‘doubles up’ against a fellow member using their introductory $0.01 buy in.

Techcrunch explained it best last year when they said:

Moola gives each new user $0.01 to start. You play against another player at your level, and the winner takes all of the money from the other person. So each time you win, you double your money. Win 30 times in a row and win $10.7 million. A user can “cash out” at any time and have a check delivered to them with their current balance. If you lose, you start over at $0.01.

The games look quite simple and intuitive. The only one I have played so far is a High/Lo card game. Between each round of games, ads appear. That’s the only revenue stream I can see at this time but that’s not to say that doors to SMS world won’t be opening in the near future..

I’m not fond of the UI though. There is too much going on for my liking. They’re overloading me with incentives to ‘upgrade’ my account by boosting something or another or else they’re pestering me to signup friends to avail of the referral bonus. It’s too much activity for my liking.

Pretty interesting concept all the same though. I’ll be keeping an eye on these guys to see how they evolve over the coming months.

Anyway…If you want an invite just click on this link.

I agree they present you with too much info up front and it’s confusing, but the click throughs on the flash seem to get you into your first game pretty quickly. The Hi/Low game could be pretty addictive I think - I like the real time interaction aspect of it. Still I gave up when I lost my first game - there was no real incentive to keep going once you are back to 0.00

True. Before you even know it, you’re playing a game (which is nice). I think you always have a minimum of 0.01 in your account though. I’m not sure on that one..
