…and I have to say it’s a lot nicer than I expected.

I can’t stand Bebo or MySpace. Both are full of spam and kids and annoying flash flare and are just annoying. But Facebook is really really nice. The big advantage it has over Bebo & MySpace is that it’s a closed social system which means you can’t browse a profile without being a member.

When you sign up, you can do a quick scan for your fellow Facebook buddies based on your email address book. I can’t imagine there being too much spam on FB because of its proprietary nature.

The interface is clean, consistent and easy to navigate. The networking and social interaction is far more structured and worth while than any other social network I have used. You can setup and join a whole host of different groups. I have signed up to the Boards and Irish Bloggers groups so far. I haven’t had a chance to investigate, but I hope there is a syndication option which allows you to subscribe to group members’ blogs..that would be nice.

The only drawback is that you need a good few of your mates online in order to get the best of it. One of the guys from work has about 30 friends on FB and they use it to arrange piss ups, post photos and more piss ups. Excellent. What more do you want?

My profile can be found here if you wish to add me. The guys behind Facebook have an active blog which is a good read if you are interested in Web2.0 socially things.
