As the title suggests, I’ll be heading to CreativeCamp this Saturday in Kilkenny!
CreativeCamp is pretty much a BarCamp but in disguise. I have previously attended two, Cork & Waterford, and both were excellently run, had excellent speakers and were well worth the visit. This week’s camp should be no different.
Ken, Keith and Tom are the organisers and if the speakers can live up to the excellent attention and effort which the guys have put into promoting CreativeCamp via the blog, then there is no doubt the event will be a success.
The guys have
- posted maps
- organised car pools
- done pretty pie charts
- posted images of the event rooms
- and of course, they have listed the schedule
That’s how this type of thing should be done.
Some of those giving talks are:
- Jan Blanchard from Touristr on The Semantic Web - what is it and how can it be used by an online service?
- Tom Raftery on Creative Ways To Reduce Your Carbon Footprint
- Walter Higgins and Bernie Goldbach on How Friends Communicate
- Sabrina Dent on How To Blog Like A Boy
I was a busy wee lad tonight, I stocked up on hardware for my camera. I splashed out on a tripod, carrier case, memory and a second battery. Yes, I intend to record some talks. All I have to do is to figure out how to use the bloomin’ thing(s).
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thank you for visiting! Cormac

Heading down myself tomorrow morning. Should be good craic meeting everyone. Is the schedule up? The linky is broken and I can’t see it on the blog

I linked to that page about the schedule without realising it wasn’t a full schedule. Woopsie.
I’m panning on wandering in around 9.30 tomorrow morning and as long as their is no major conflict with the rugby, I’ll be happy.

How did it go? I really must make it along to something like that one of these days. When’s the next one?

It was very good. I recorded about 6 presentations.
Bluetooth Marketing, Scrum Development Model, The Semantic Web, Outsourcing your Development Work, GPS Drawing, Personalisation and the Social Web.
I’ll put them up on Google/Youtube once I have reduced some of the background noise from the videos.
I’m not sure when the next barcamp is on but Irishdev always have a decent list of upcoming events on their website. http://www.irishdev.com/events.aspx
This is probably the one which is closest to home for yourself > http://www.irishdev.com/EventDetails.aspx?id=947

Ah cool. Thanks for the links. I’ll keep an eye on that list now and keep an ear out for upcoming events.
Not so sure about an Internet Marketing event though - obviously marketing on the net is a pretty intriguing area, and marketing as a whole is actually fascinating as a subject, unfortunately it riles me and I avoid it if at all possible
