Gavin over at Ireland SEO Marketing is after tagging me with the question - Why do I blog?. It’s a while since I have played tag, I’m more of a stuck in the mud or gymnastics kind of guy….but anyway.

Mmm, why do I blog?

While in 3rd & 4th year college I had a few projects on the run. Some were solo, some were group projects. Usually I would be grouped, by choice, with Chris Gallagher & Damien Hayes (tagged btw).

By setting up a blog we could easily group collaborate on projects. Blogging provided a focus for the project, it provided a guideline. So my first venture into blogging was for educational purposes.

During College we had two lecturers who loved social media and the importance it has on content delivery and the web. Brendan Lyng, my lecturer on Enterprise Business Management, and Marry Barry, Strategic Information Management, both discussed blogging during their course. But of course before this I had read a good lot of blogs and being somewhat involved in the community.

Once College finished I had to decide what to do with my domain, cormacmoylan.com. The natural thing to do was to setup a blog.

I tend to forget quite a lot of things so blogging would no doubt help my retention of information. Reading blogs can be a great source of information but I find that writing about the topic aids your learning. It also lets you connect with an audience and learn from them.

I hope to eventually go into the more business orientated site of computing. A position as a Business/System Analyst sounds right up my street. My blog, like everyone else’s blog, acts as a dynamic CV. It is my hope that options for future employment can be derived from this blog.

Making money is also nice.

Although I’m not making a lot, I’m making more than enough to cover the hosting and domain.
